For conservatories and extensions, Durabase offers several advantages: installation in 1–2 days versus 5–10 days for concrete, no deep excavation required, and a fully insulated floor included as standard. However, for heavy structures like garages or large outbuildings, a traditional concrete base remains the preferred option.

Yes. Strictly speaking a product is not “approved under” the Building Regulations — it is certified, and the finished work is what has to comply. Durabase holds BBA certification from the British Board of Agrément and a JHAI type approval certificate, which is what building control will want to see, and it carries a 25-year manufacturer’s guarantee. Installed correctly it satisfies the relevant structural and thermal requirements, and it is well recognised by building inspectors across England and Wales.

A typical Durabase installation can be completed in one to two days, depending on the size and complexity of the project. This is significantly faster than a poured concrete base which requires multiple visits and curing time. The site is ready for the conservatory or extension to be fitted almost immediately after installation.
